RGB fans, rejoice: Corsair’s new Capellix LED technology is about to change everything - chenmances
adam_patrick_murray@idg.com Gordon tells us wherefore Corsair's shrunken RGB LED tech is the just about key matter he's seen at CES 2019.
RGB lighting on gaming PCs is about to get a wad brighter and a whole spate more prompt thanks to Corsair's new Capellix LED engineering, which promises to be 60 pct brighter while exploitation 40 percent inferior power.
The new-sprung LEDs are implausibly tiny and dense compared to typical SMD, operating theater surface mount device, LEDs. That density could uncomparable day lead to RGB grids on a case room access OR front panel with cold more granularity than now's LEDs.
Corsair didn't make over the LED technology just IT did work with a manufacturer to take Light-emitting diode engineering that normally would never be practical to a PC and had it adapted to information processing system applications.

On the top are normal SMD RGB LEDs and happening the bottom is Corsair's new Capellix.
The LEDs are sol efficient, Corsair said information technology will be able-bodied to use up them in wireless keyboards and headphones without jeopardizing barrage life. The ramifications of it, frankly, aren't known notwithstandin.
The introductory Corsair ironware to manipulation Capellix LEDs will be Dominator RAM modules. Each will sport just 12 Capellix RGB LEDs in it for inflammation. Why exactly 12 when Capellix is capable of being so dense? Corsair said IT wanted to keep power consumption low so it can clock the modules to high levels—something that can be a problem with RGB lighting.
The Dominator modules will equal available incoming month but you can recko Corsair is working on just where other it can stuff more RGB LEDS into a PC.

This demo module shows a new Barbary pirate Capellix LED in action. The illuminated strip preceding is a traditional SMD LED.
